Credit students at UCPH

Would you like to study for 1鈥�2 semesters at the 大秀视频鈥攅ither while enrolled at another Danish university or at a different UCPH faculty?

If so, you can apply as a credit student.

What is a credit student?

Being a credit student at UCPH means that you are enrolled for 1鈥�2 semesters at UCPH while pursuing a degree at another Danish university or another faculty at UCPH. For example, you might want to take an elective subject, single courses, supplementary studies, or otherwise be a guest student at UCPH.

In short, a credit student is a student who takes a limited number of courses over 1鈥�2 semesters at UCPH as part of their ongoing higher education in Denmark.

You are already enrolled in a faculty at UCPH but wish to take courses at a faculty other than the one where you are currently enrolled.

Students from other Danish universities

You are enrolled in another Danish university and wish to take courses at UCPH. 

If you are not enrolled in another degree programme

If you are not enrolled in a university, you can still take courses at UCPH.  

However, it requires enrolment in fee-based continuing programmes at UCPH.

 

Admission Requirements for Credit Students

When you apply to be a credit student (a student taking individual courses at the 大秀视频 while enrolled in another degree programme), you generally need to ensure that you meet both the general admission requirements for credit students and the specific admission requirements for the course(s) you want to take.

General Admission Requirements for Credit Students

Do you want to take courses at bachelor level?

If you want to take courses at bachelor level, you must meet the admission requirements for the bachelor鈥檚 degree programme to which the courses belong.

You can find the general admission requirements for each bachelor鈥檚 degree programme under bcchelor鈥檚 programmes; find the relevant degree and select 鈥淎dgangskrav og optagelse (Admission requirements and admission). However, be aware that all bachelor's degree programmes at UCPH only are taught in Danish. Grade requirements do not apply to credit students.

Do you want to take courses at master's level?

If you want to take courses at master's level, the only general requirement is that you have completed a bachelor鈥檚 degree.

Specific Admission Requirements for Credit Students

When you register for a course at UCPH as a credit student, the course may have specific admission requirements that you must fulfil in order to be enrolled. If there are specific admission requirements, you will find them in the course description under 鈥淔ormal requirements.鈥�

In addition to the formal requirements, it is important to check the course description for any academic expectations that may be specified to ensure you can actively participate in and complete the course. If such expectations are listed, you will find them under 鈥淩ecommended academic qualifications.鈥�

If the course description does not include sections titled 鈥淔ormal requirements鈥� or 鈥淩ecommended academic qualifications,鈥� it means that there are no specific requirements specified for the course.

In the course catalogue, you can find information about all bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 courses offered in the current and upcoming semester.

How to apply for admission

To study for one or more semesters at UCPH, your home institution must approve a study plan as credit-bearing towards your degree.

In addition to applying for admission at UCPH, you must also obtain pre-approval from your home university.

If you have not received a response to your pre-approval application before the UCPH deadline, you can still apply for admission. In that case, you must submit the pre-approval later.

If you already have pre-approval, remember to upload it with your application.

Are you studying at UCPH?

If you are already enrolled as a bachelor鈥檚 or master鈥檚 student at UCPH, you must apply for credit transfer as an internal applicant.

Please note that all following links point to the Danish website, as only students enrolled in Denmark are eligible to apply as credit transfer students.

Are you studying at another Danish university?

If you are enrolled in a bachelor鈥檚 or master鈥檚 degree programme at another Danish university, you must apply for credit as an external credit student.

Pre-approval after application deadline

If you are unable to obtain a pre-approval before the application deadline, you may submit it afterwards.

Study start in the autumn semester (Block 1 and 2)

  • 1 June (admission decisions will be announced no later than 15 August)

Study start in the spring semester (Block 3 and 4)

  • 1 December (admission decisions will be announced no later than 15 January)

Study start for summer courses (Block 5): 

  • 1 June (1 May for the Faculty of Social Sciences)

How are seats allocated to credit students?

Admission as a credit student depends on available seats in the course(s) you wish to take.

Some courses have limited capacity, while others have good availability.

As a credit student, you may be offered a seat if there are any available after the primary target group (e.g. students for whom the course is compulsory or part of faculty agreements) has been allocated.

Seats in courses are allocated in the following order:

  1. Ordinary UCPH students
  2. International exchange students at UCPH
  3. Internal credit students
  4. External credit students
  5. .

Allocation of study seats by draw

If more applicants apply than there are remaining seats, allocation among credit students is decided by draw.

How to apply for a deadline exemption due to exceptional circumstances

Usually, it is not possible to submit an application or documentation after the application deadline. If it is a case of exceptional circumstances, such as sudden, serious illness, you can apply for dispensation.

You must document the circumstances with a medical certificate or similar stating the time frame of the situation/circumstances that prevented you from meeting the deadline. The documentation must describe in what way the exceptional circumstances have prevented you from applying within the deadline.

Exceptional circumstances are matters of a grave nature. The following will therefore not give rise to a dispensation:

  • Delays
  • Oversights
  • Not being aware of the deadlines.

Please note: You must send your application for dispensation as soon as possible after the deadline for which you are applying for a dispensation.
